The Hortiflorexpo IPM, held in Beijing between 23 and 26 April, was an opportunity to introduce coir to the Chinese market.  While there are challenges involved in dealing with Chinese growers and distributors, the fact the coir is such an effective growing media does not go unnoticed due to promotional efforts and trials sponsored by FibreDust.

Imports to China, unlike in Europe or the U.S., are controlled by the Government and each province has different limitations, “but it is a good market if you have the right partners,” affirms Sam. “We have divided it into three parts: the professional side, the retail side and the grower side, which includes both high-tech vegetable growers and plant nurseries.”
