The addition of wood fiber increases the Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC) of the mix allowing the plant to benefit for increased availability of nutrients. No longer do you need to add additional fertilizer after watering due to run off. “Coir already has a CEC of 90-100 meq/100g, add to that wood fiber with a CEC of 60-70 meq/100g and you have an excellent natural media with better holding capacity for nutrients. You also benefit for increased water retention- all good stuff for your plants root system. Better roots = better yield” continued Sam.
